ISO 9001 Quality Management System

ISO 9000 is probably one of the most popular terms in the world of quality management.

Developed by the International Organization for Standardization, the ISO 9000 series of standards set out the minimum requirements for quality management systems.  For organizations seeking certification, the Year 2008 version of ISO 9001 should be the document of their prime concern.

The requirements specified in ISO 9001:2008 address quality assurance as well as customer satisfaction.  With proper control on management responsibility, resource management, process management, measurement and analysis, and continual improvement, consistency in product quality is assured and customer satisfaction can be achieved.

Organizations which are ISO 9001:2000 certified or are planning to do so should be aware of the existence of ISO 9004:2009.  ISO 9004 provides guidance on using a quality system to improve the overall performance of an organization.  Unlike ISO 9001, it is not for certification.  But when both standards are implemented together as a consistent pair, the benefits to an organization would be much greater than if only one is used.

Besides helping organizations with first-time establishment of ISO 9001 quality systems, TQC also offers consulting services to organizations already certified against 2000 versions to make the transition to the 2008 version.

ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

Companies and organizations nowadays need to commit to implementing good environmental management practices, not polluting or depleting the environment, reducing waste and making efficient use of resources, and respecting the environmental concerns of customers, shareholders, employees, local communities, regulators and society as a whole for sustainable development. ISO 14001:2004 provides a road map for this.

What is ISO 14001:2004?
ISO 14001:2004 specifies the requirements for an EMS, which provides a framework for an organization to control the environmental impact of its activities, products and services, and to improve its environmental performance continually whereas ISO 14004:2004 provides guidelines on the elements of an EMS, its implementation and the principal issues involved.

Benefits of implementing ISO 14001
